what is an infodemic?

infodemic is defined as people’s uneasiness to reach a reliable and accurate information during the crises such as pandemic, earthquake or terrorist attacks due to the very fast spread of misinformation. as the need for information during the crises increases, people may have a difficulty to make a distinction between true and false information and it causes the spread of infodemic. thus the infodemic becomes an obstacle for people to find an accurate guideness and also it leads to public health problems.

this lecture focuses on understanding the dynamics of the spread of misinformation, explains why and how the misinformation spreads and aims to increase the people’s resilience to infodemic. In each module, online training tool includes suggested readings and quizes beside the video contents for users to reach their learning objectives.
